An amazing once-in-a-lifetime, record-setting event will take place on Saturday, July 11th in Burlington! Thousands of wood and paper puzzle pieces created as part of Art Fits Vermont will be on display in Battery Park from 10 AM - 4 PM. Enjoy performances by Woods Tea Co. and a silent auction of select pieces. At 2 pm we'll set the Guinness Record for the World's Largest Puzzle. Bring your puzzle piece or make one there!
puzzlePALOOZA is part of the 12-day Burlington International Waterfront Festival. Later that day the Arts Council will be among the 70+ organizations in the fantastic Champlain 400 parade. Come march with us! We're seeking 251 volunteers to represent every town in Vermont. Read on to learn more.
In keeping with the Quadricentennial's spirit of visionary introspection, Fran Stoddard of Vermont Public Television hosts and moderates daily panel discussions on our future from various perspectives on Monday, July 6 through Saturday, July 11. Bring your lunch, or just yourself, and sit in on a lively, fast-paced presentation of ideas, followed by discussion and questions from the audience. Sessions will take place at the Contois Auditorium in Burlington's City Hall from Noon to 1:30pm beginning on July 6th.
2009 marks the 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain’s travels to the lake that now bears his name. The summer-long Celebrate Champlain festival features arts exhibits, theater and dance, films and musical acts of every kind.
The Burlington Waterfront Festival is taking place from July 2-14 throughout the Queen City. In addition to the puzzlePALOOZA event on July 11th, the Arts Council is proud to sponsor the outstanding Vermont artists slated for the Champlain Valley Stage. The 2009 Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) Summit on the Future of Vermont marked a watershed point. It turned the findings from the 2-year Council on the Future of Vermont project into a challenge to Vermonters, and especially the leaders who gathered together for the day, to consider specific ways to work together to advance a positive vision for the future of the state. Over 500 Vermonters participated in the Summit process on May 11, 2009, coming from all parts of the state, from all sectors of government, business, non-profits and communities.
